Dr. Saloni Maharaj is an internal medicine hospitalist in surgical co-management, where she manages patients in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and ENT at Stanford University. She was born and raised in San Jose, attended college and medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University, and then completed her residency training at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She was the chief resident in her residency program and chose academic medicine due to her passion for teaching.

Dr. Maharaj is currently the clerkship director for the perioperative rotation for the internal medicine residents and geriatric medicine fellows, where she teaches trainees how to care for complex surgical patients. She is also the associate director of the Stanford Clinical Summer Internship where she works with high school and college students interested in medical careers. Outside of her teaching roles, she is a leader in internal medicine and was the most recent President of the Society of General Internal Medicine California-Hawaii, as well as President-Elect for the Society of Hospital Medicine Bay Area Chapter.
