"Stay curious. Don't stop learning. Don't stop wondering."
Ellen Lin was born in Taiwan and immigrated with her family to Akron, Ohio, when she was five years old.
She graduated from MIT with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering with a thesis in robotic programming supported by a fellowship from United Technologies.
Lin's career as a mechanical engineer was at the General Electric company, working in both the R&D and the Aviation Divisions. Her work focused on geometric inspection and providing Six Sigma training for her peers throughout the company. After ending her engineering career to become a full-time mom of 3 boys, she volunteered extensively and taught private violin and piano lessons.
When there was only one son left in high school, Lin was sponsored by one of President Obama's Race to the Top scholarships to complete a masters in education to become a physics teacher. She has taught at suburban and urban public and private schools. While she has been primarily a physics teacher at all levels, she has also taught a number of other science and technology classes, coached Science Bowl, and mentored a FIRST robotics team. She is currently a content creator for Estes Rockets.
